History

The Company began trading in 1989 as North Down Fruit and Vegetable Co. Ltd. from premises at Lansdowne Road Industrial Estate with only 2 staff.

The Company experienced considerable growth in the first few years and in 1993 opened North Down (Belfast) Ltd. in the main Belfast fruit market on Boucher Road.

In the mid 1990’s with the continued success of North Down’s food services division the Group purchased premises at Kennedy Way Industrial Estate and the food services and head office staff were relocated.

The Company continued to expand and towards the end of the Millennium embarked on our own plan. The decline of the main Belfast fruit market coupled with the Kennedy Way sites size and motorway access led to North Down’s decision to close North Down Fruit and Vegetable Co. Ltd. in 1999 and also 2 years later our Belfast depot and relocate all our business to the Kennedy Way site.

This has proved to be extremely successful and last year we built a new state of the art store onto our existing buildings. This houses our new pre-pack company 5 Pac Ltd.
